The air is crisp, the leaves are falling, and the changes that a new season brings should be welcomed with a sweet slice of the ultimate comfort cinnamon rollsššš°š„
A spin on normal cinny rolls, the apple chunks truly give a flair of fall vibesš
A bit more challenging of a recipe due to prep and dough rising time, but completely worth it and perfect for october fesitivities!!
Give this recipe a shot instead of bobbing for apples this halloween š»
For the dough:
1 cup of warm plant-based milk (I used Oatly)
5 tbsp of vegan butter
1 pack of activated yeast
4 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
2 tbsp of salt
EVOO drizzle
***I used Faro flour (DE- Dinkel) for this recipe to make gluten-free cinny rolls packed with protein. They were good, however white flour is probably best for a gooey cinnamon roll***
For dough filling:
4 tbsp of Cinnamon
2 tbsp of Sugar
2 medium apples
Maple syrup drizzle
Method:
Heat up milk and vegan butter in a small saucepan
Let the mixture cool so it is not too warm before adding the activated yeast into a large mixing bowl
In the mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Mix well
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface
In a separate or cleaned bowl, drizzle EVOO and place dough ball in the bowl. Then cover with plastic wrap or a towel
Allow the dough to rise for 30 min
While waiting for the dough, make the dough filling- dice the apples and drizzle maple syrup, cinnamon, and sugar
Uncover risen dough, and roll it out into a large rectangle (it does not need to be perfect)
Spread vegan butter on top of rolled out dough then add sugar and cinnamon
Place diced maple apples on top of dough
Roll up the dough and slice about 1 inch from the end
Place sliced rolls into an oven-safe pan
Bake at 175*C or 345*F for 12-15 minutes
Enjoy immediately!
